Ingredients & Allergens

All Mrs B’s products may contain dairy, gluten, eggs, soya and nuts.

All products are made in kitchens that handle all allergens plus alcohol.

Mrs B’s accept no liability for allergic reactions caused from eating our products.

It is the customer’s responsibility to make Mrs B’s aware of any special dietary requirements that need to be accommodated at the time of booking. Where every caution will be taken in the case of known allergies, it remains the responsibility of the customer to inform guests/recipients of allergen information provided in our terms and conditions.

Product Description

We do not like to copy other peoples cakes exactly and if asked to do, will make something with our own design using the original image as inspiration. When asked to make a copy of a cake we have previously made, we use our best endeavours to make sure that it is close as possible, however, occasionally there may be small variations in colour, typefaces and layout.

Storage

All of our products are made fresh and most will last between 7 - 10 days from being made. The exception will be celebration cakes and cupcakes, which will last 2 - 3 days. These time scales are dependant on how they are stored. We recommend if you are not consuming the product immediately, they they are to be wrapped and stored in an air-tight container. If you decide to freeze them, you can do this by wrapping them tightly in cling film and place in the freezer. When ready to eat, take them out to defrost approximately 30 mins before consuming.

Food Hygiene recommendations state that food should only be frozen for a maximum of 3 months.

Celebration Cakes are baked to ensure they are fresh for the date you have asked it to be made for and they should be stored in a cool dry place, ideally a fridge until required. Once cut, the cake will last approximately 2 - 3 days if tightly wrapped and stored in the fridge or an air tight container. Exposing the cake to air, will of course dry it out! Mr’s B’s cannot guarantee its quality if it is consumed beyond the 48hours. Please note your cake will not have the extended shelf life of supermarket cakes which contain additives and preservatives.

You may decide to freeze some of your cake. This will preserve the taste of the sponge to a certain extent, but please note it will affect the visual appearance of the icing as condensation may occur upon defrosting. If you decide to freeze then cut into portions and wrap them tightly in cling film and place in the freezer. When ready to eat, take them out to defrost approximately 30 mins before consuming.

Portion Guides

Mrs B’s portion guides are exactly that ‘a guide’. Portions will vary depending on the person who is cutting the cake. Please ask us if you are unsure how to cut.

Fresh Flowers

Mrs B’s are happy to source flowers for your cake or cookie cakes, although please note that some flowers are grown using chemicals (ie pesticides) that are not food safe so please research this before asking us to use a specific type of flower.

Please note that some flowers are toxic and Mrs B’s is not responsible for any problems with fresh flowers sourced, or for any damage rendered to a cake when a third party has been organising the display on a cake.

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the third party is aware of these terms and conditions and they will be liable.

Deposits & Balance payments

Mrs B’s requires at least a 50% deposit at time of booking a custom order to secure the booking date. This is deducted from the final balance payable. We may discuss an alternative for larger orders, such as wedding cakes.

The final balance should be paid either before or on collection of the product.

In the event an order is placed with less than 3 weeks notice, we may require a full balance payment to be made.

By paying a deposit, you are agreeing to our terms and conditions.

Cancellations

Deposits are non-returnable and non-transferable up until 3 weeks before the cake is due (this means any cakes made with less than 3 weeks notice are unable to get a refund either). This is because of the purchase of specific ingredients and time spent preparing for your order as well as giving us enough time to fill your slot with another order.

If your order was taken with less than 3 weeks notice and a full balance deposit is made, then only 50% of that deposit is refundable, up to 1 week before the collection date. After this we cannot refund because we may have started design elements of your order as well as the purchase of specific ingredients and time spent preparing for your order as well as giving us enough time to fill your slot with another order.

If the order was taken with less than 1 weeks notice then no refund is possible on any amounts given as a deposit.

Alterations to orders

Any changes wanted to be made to your order, need to be specified no later than 3 weeks before the cake is due to be collected. We can not guarantee the change(s) can be made and it could also mean additional charges will need to be paid on collection due to any design additions or ingredient changes.

Postal Deliveries

If you are ordering a postal treat box or baking kit, we ship only to the UK Mainland only, via Royal Mail, first class.

Our P&P charge is currently £4.99, which is for first class postage.

We cannot accept responsibility for addresses provided incorrectly.

We use first class to send postal boxes, which should take no longer than 2 - 3 days to be received. I do not need to remind you there may be some delays and therefore your box could arrive later. Please consider bank holidays before ordering.

Complaints

If you have concerns about the appearance of your cake, please notify Mrs B’s immediately on collection (or before if noticed via any images sent) so we have time to rectify it in time for your event.

Any other concerns should be made within 48hrs of collection and evidence of the fault should be included. Please refer to returns and refunds below, for further information.

Any refund given for disputes regarding a design, or production of a cake are entirely at the discretion of Mrs B’s are not automatic. Full refunds will not be given for any order that has been consumed regardless of dispute as consumption of the cake is viewed as acceptance that the cake is fit for purpose for which it has been supplied.

All cakes are photographed from different angles to show quality, therefore, Mrs B’s does not accept any responsibility for damage to a cake once it has been collected.

Collection

Collection, unless specified otherwise, is from our shop at 311 Eastwood Road North. The only collection times available are Tuesday - Saturday 9am - 5pm (we no longer accept collection times out of shop times or at alternative location).

Advice for transporting and storing our products before event

Transporting some of our products are a little tricker than others, so please make sure you plan ahead!

When handling a cake (walking with it to destination): hold from the bottom of the cake box, do not lean it towards yourself or place thumbs in the side of the cake.

Transporting in a car: Please make sure the car is cool (but do not have air-con directly blowing air on to the cake) and clutter free. We advise for it to be stored in the footwell or the boot and not on someones lap/in someones hand or on a seat. You need to consider your route to the final destination to try an eliminate as many bumps and hills as possible.

Storing a celebration cake

Please make sure you have made a clear space for your cake in a cool area, ideally a fridge. We recommend to bring the cake up to room temperature before enjoying as that is when it tastes best! If the cake is stored somewhere warm, it will cause the cake to become unstable and could possibly lean or even collapse.

As stated previously, we can not take any responsibility of the cake once it has left our premisses.

Returns & Refunds

We are committed to ensuring you are completely thrilled with your purchase!

  • Perishable items made to order or bespoke items need to be returned for further inspection and are not guaranteed to be refunded. This is at the discretion of Mrs B's.

  • Do not destroy or throw away the product before you have spoken to us as we will require this back to consider whether any further action is required.
